The September issue our magazine is dedicated to Sri B. Surya Prakash. Sri Surya Prakash was the eldest son of Dr. B. V. Raman, older brother of our beloved Editor-in-Chief Niranjan Babu and my uncle.
It is hard to believe that the Sri Surya Prakash left us fifty six years ago, at the young age of 27. The name and the memory of a handsome youth, college athlete, sportsman of high ability and above all a remarkable astrology scholar remains ever fresh among the astrological fraternity. The Art of Living Foundation, with the blessings of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar Ji, conducted a Global Conference on Vastu Shastra. They invited our beloved Editor-in-Chief, Niranjan Babu Bangalore, and me to be a part of the conference. Father was the keynote speaker, and I was the honoured speaker. I am happy to share the text my talk which was titled Vastu and Astrology Remedies for Businesses. Vastu Shastra is the science of physical, mental and cosmic energies around us and how they can be disciplined to bring in prosperity (finances, fame and wealth), happiness and accelerate our spiritual growth. A study of Vastu scriptures and adaption of the basic principles of Vastu in Modern times result in enormous benefits and increase of good luck.
The Vedic Lore have treat women with the highest women. They are considered as Shakti or principle energy that holds together and drives living and non-living things. In Brihadaranya Upanishad, it is declared that one who has a daughter would become a scholar and attain full life.

Women have extraordinary power. Their multitasking ability and resiliency is unmatched. In this article, Smt Lalitha Donatella Riback discusses the horoscopes of women who have fought in the male-dominated modern society, showcased their mettle and have amassed wealth in the process.
Maharshi Parashara shares certain methods to calculate longevity. Before doing so, he cautions -
कथयाम्यायुषो ज्ञानं दुर्ज्ञेयं यत् सुरैरपि
Calculating longevity is difficult even to the learned. An ethical astrologer should never calculate the longevity of a person and let him or her know of the same. He should reject all such requests.
However, one can use the below method given by Dr. T. S. Vasan, an eminent scholar and recipient of the Jyothishya Mahasagara Award, and advise clients to be careful about their health, write their wills or move closer to their loved ones.
India has been the land of spirituality and spiritual stalwarts. His Holiness Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamiji is one of the greatest living saints in India. A spiritual leader with millions of devotees around the world, Sri Swamiji is approached by individuals to guide them on various aspects of life be it spirituality, career, health, marriage or children. Sri H Ramadas Rao analyses this great saint’s horoscope in details and discusses the various Vedic astrology and Nadi astrology combinations that are present in this divine horoscope.
Sri Surya Prakash exploded into the astrological world at an early age. It appears that sometimes young persons of extraordinary abilities are recalled to the Heaven. Adi Shankaracharya, Swami Vivekananda, Mathematics Genius Sri Ramanujam and Sri Surya Prakash were some of the favoured children of God to leave earth at early ages.
A brief review of his chart follows. The Rasi chart indicates the Ascendant is Virgo and its lord Venus is in the 12th with exalted Mercury. Venus is debilitated but its association with exalted Mercury cancels the debilitation. Debilitated Sun, Lord of 11th is in Lagna. However, Lagna is hemmed or sandwiched between two beneficial planets, Jupiter and Mercury. Ascendant is, therefore, positive or encouraging. Typical of Virgo Ascendants, Sri Surya Prakash exhibited high intelligence and memory at a young age. Exalted Mercury indicates his debating and speech skills. Saturn, lord of 4 and 5 indicates that it is very beneficial. Saturn aspects 2nd house. This reflects his significant literary skills and optimism. He wrote extensively state-of-the-art articles on astrology and related subjects. He, a youth, was also an “outside-the-box” thinker. His father, Dr. B.V. Raman was impressed by his vast abilities and great talent.
A close review of the planetary arrangements helps in understanding the primary astrological reasons for the short life of Sri Surya Prakash. Venus, Lord of Lagna and 8th house is in the 12th house and is debilitated. Eleventh lord Sun is debilitated and occupies Lagna. Moon, Lord of 10th is associated with Mars, Lord of 2nd and 7th houses and the incendiary planet Rahu. Astrological scholars can further study or evaluate the other planetary indications that could show the short but a glorious life.
Sri Surya Prakash’s chart indicates that encouraging geometry of planets and human effort complements one’s life or destiny.
